This fall, we launched the MSc inHashtag#SustainableHashtag#InnopreneurshipatUniversität Duisburg-Essen

—a program designed for those who want to tackle sustainability challenges with entrepreneurial ingenuity.

And what better way to kick things off than with the Innopreneurship Challenge?

Here’s what makes it unique:
Students spend the first 4 weeks of their program - entirely working on real-world problems provided by our partnerUrban Zero, a pioneering organization transforming Duisburg-Ruhrort into the world’s first climate-neutral urban quarter by 2029.

Students learn by doing: applying design thinking, entrepreneurial frameworks, and collaborative problem-solving in diverse, interdisciplinary teams.

They dive into complex sustainability questions like:

1️⃣ How can landlords and tenants inHashtag#DuisburgHashtag#Ruhrortadopt solar energy more effectively? 
2️⃣ How can we drive sustainable consumer behaviors in urban communities such as Ruhrort?
3️⃣ With new locker boxes in Ruhrort byTamburi, how can last-mile delivery services evolve toward greener solutions?

In just one month, our students gained a crash course in turning visionary ideas into actionable solutions—an experience that mirrors the next two years of their journey.

The best part? This is only the beginning.
